My Interests

Here are web sites I've created about my lifestyle - my hobbies, projects and other interests.

  • Cyberculture - Computers and the Net are the future.
    • My Ramblings - Some of my early ramblings on the Computer Age. (Note: this is my Gopherspace - IE users won't be able to see this. Try here for a Web version of some of my writings.)
    • Computer Taming - I have spent a large portion of my working life as a Computer Consultant.
    • Web Taming - I am still active as a Web Designer and Webmaster and on this site is a portfolio of some of the Web Sites I've designed.
    • FreeNetTools - I have used many free resources on the 'Net to create my Webs. Anyone can create a site with free tools downloaded from the 'Net.
    • COSGroup - The CocoaNuts Open Source Group is for people interested in using Open Source and Free Software on their computers for personal, academic, software development, or business.
      • CocoaNut BUG - The purpose of the CocoaNuts BSD User's Group (BUG) is to Promote and Educate about BSD Operating Systems; including FreeBSD, NetBSD, and OpenBSD.
      • CocoaNut LUG - The CocoaNuts Linux User's Group (LUG) is an informal group of Linux users that share information on the Linux operating system and its application.

"Linux is quite possibly the most important achievement of free software since the original Space War . . . " – from Linux Installation and Getting Started.

  • Sailing - I love sailing and cruising around in my Tanzer 7.5 sailboat!
    • Living The Cruising Life - Dutch Nirvana, is a Tanzer 7.5 sailboat and is my liveaboard home and means of transport for cruising around The Tropics.

  • Travel - I enjoy travel and cruising aboard my boat. I have sailed the Caribbean Sea, the Sea of Cortez, the Gulf of Mexico, across the Atlantic to the Mediterranean Sea, and the Pacific on the West Coast and off Hawaii. I have hiked almost every major trail in the U.S. (including the Appalachian and Pacific Crest along with part of the Continental divide).
    • Island of Malta - The Island of Malta in the Mediterranean Sea is one of the most beautiful places on earth.
    • Living in Lake County - Here's an spot in Northern California I used to live, sail and hike in.
    • Baja del Norte - Baja California has been described as a "geographic anomaly," "the strangest land in the world," and as those who have visited this rugged and breathtakingly beautiful land know, there is no other place like it on earth.
    • Island of Kauai, Hawaii - I've spent some time in Hawaii on the "Garden Island" of Kaua'i.
    • New York's Capital District - With over 300 years of American history, the Capital District is one of the most historically exciting and culturally interesting areas of New York state.
    • Cruising Cocoa, Florida - Cocoa is a city located on four miles of the beautiful Indian River (part of the Intracoastal Waterway) in Brevard County Florida.
  • New Age Stuff
  • Arts & Crafts
    • Documents Décoratif - The Art Nouveau style of Alphons Mucha is composed of charm and grace, delicacy and curves.
    • Origns of My Obsession - It all started when I picked up my first copy of Heavy Metal in a bookstore across from the movie theater on Santa Monica Boulevard in the Spring of 1977.
